Common Questions

About these tools

Are these workers' comp tools free?

Yes. All tools on the WC Insurance Quotes resources page are free to use with no account, email signup, or credit card required. The cost calculator, class code lookup, and state requirement checker are provided as a public resource by KGIB, Inc., a licensed insurance agency serving 23 states.

How accurate is the workers' comp cost calculator?

The cost calculator uses real state-level manual rates from the Oregon DCBS 2024 Premium Rate Ranking study, an authoritative cross-state comparison published since 1986. Estimates reflect industry-average rates that include loss cost multipliers and state assessments. Actual premiums vary by carrier, schedule credits, deductibles, and underwriting — for a real quote, submit a quote request.

What is the difference between NCCI and WCIRB class codes?

NCCI (National Council on Compensation Insurance) maintains class codes for 35 states plus DC. California uses its own rating bureau — WCIRB (Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau) — with proprietary codes for some industries, most notably restaurants and food service. The class code lookup tool covers both systems.
